Founded in 1854, the Grand Rapids Public Museum is beacon of inspiration, fostering curiosity in history, science, and culture. Home to over 250,000 artifacts and specimens, the museum began a $50 million expansion in 2023. This project marks its first major renovation since 1994.
We cleared brush and trees along the riverbank for the expansion. This transformation will provide an enhanced outdoor exhibit space and walkways, accommodating a 300% increase in visitors.
Navigating Sidewalk Closures
Addressing safety concerns, we strategically blocked public sidewalks, utilizing signage to guide pedestrians and ensure their awareness of potential risks.
River Proximity
Operating alongside a major river demanded cautious planning, with our team mindful of equipment proximity to the riverbank to mitigate risks.
Urban Logistics
Amid the vibrancy of downtown Grand Rapids, our team navigated the logistics of transporting equipment without disrupting traffic flow, securing safe spots for equipment storage.
Despite the challenges, our team completed the project on time and within budget. The expanded museum space will eventually double its capacity for educational programs. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact of the Grand Rapids Public Museum expansion on both visitors and the city at large.
